Aboriginal Health Worker

Available to everyone on a needs basis.

Community Role

  • Home visits
  • Promote the empowerment of Aboriginal people
  • Ensure client confidentiality
  • Promote health of Aboriginal people by encouraging them to take responsibility for their own health
  • Assist in ensuring health needs, concerns and priorities are met
  • Information re other health services
  • Access e.g. transport
  • Assist in the provision of clinical & screening services


Hospital Liaison

  • Provide a link between hospital & families
  • Provide cultural awareness for hospital personnel
  • Visit Aboriginal clients in hospital
  • Link with AHW Raukkan


Health Promotion
A wide variety of health related information is available at the Meningie Community Health Centre.

The Meningie Community Health Service regularly conducts health-related programs, and health promotion talks can be arranged on request.

HACC Services

  • For the aged or those with a disability
  • Home help
  • Respite care
  • Equipment hire
  • Meals on wheels
  • Home assessment Eg. ramps & rails


Equipment
A range of equipment is kept locally and is available for hire.

Purchase of equipment can also be arranged.
A Domiciliary Type Service fee may apply to some of these services.
